Accommodation Options

General

• The accommodation listed below gives you some options to look at, but obviously you are free to book whatever accommodation you wish.
• The “day” programs are generally held at Somerville House. It is located in the inner city Brisbane suburb of South Brisbane just two kilometres from the city centre and directly opposite South Bank parklands and on the corner of Vulture and Graham Street. There is parking at the school, and it is on a busway and close to the train.
• The “evening” programs are mostly held in the city – at St. Stephen’s Cathedral (248 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane), St. John’s Cathedral (373 Ann Street, Brisbane), St. Andrew’s Uniting Church (Corner of Creek and Ann Street, Brisbane).
• There are a number of online street directories that you can use to get information concerning Festival venues and accommodation. You might try http://www.brisbane-australia.com/maps.html Click on “Brisbane CBD map”. Click on “map” where you have the choice of “map” “satellite” or “hybrid”. Then on the “north-south-east-west” arrows on the left of the map, click once to the south. Somerville House is on the corner of Vulture and Graham Streets.

St. Johns College

• St. John’s College is located at the University of Queensland, St. Lucia. Transport will be provided for those staying there. Depending on the time of day, the trip to Somerville is approximately 20 – 30 minutes.
• College accommodation is in either ensuite rooms or shared facility rooms (own bedroom with showers and toilets down the hall). All bedrooms have fans.
• The college supplies “bed and breakfast”
• The cost for the eight days at St. John's College is $350.00.  You may pay for an extra night’s accommodation ($45.00) if you plan to depart Brisbane on the Monday after the Festival.

Base Brisbane Embassy 214 Elizabeth St, Brisbane. Just 1 minutes walk from St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and approximately 7 minutes from St. Andrew’s Uniting Church and St. John’s. To get to Somerville House, would be a 25 minute walk across the Friendship Bridge, or a 10 minute bus ride.
